Christopher’s latest solo album is the 2025 release, ‘Signatures’. It features a selection of tracks that have become staples of his live performances, including classics from Richard Thompson, Dougie MacLean, and others.

Signatures is available now on Bandcamp.
The Darkness and the Dust
Released in December 2013, “The Darkness and the Dust” is Christopher’s second solo album. A deeply personal release, its title track was inspired by Christopher’s coal mining heritage and explores the profound impacts of the place and time in which we are born. Other tracks explore the emotional trails of discovery, loss, and determination, interwoven with tales of local history and lives past.

“good song writing, attractive voice to listen to, and some lovely guitar”
– Folking
“has a poet’s skill in universalising an individual experience” – Folk London
Keep the Future Bright
Released March 2023, ‘Keep the Future Bright’ is Christopher’s debut album. Its pared-down production faithfully represents the intimacy of Christopher’s live performances, with just his distinctive voice and adept acoustic guitar playing.

“thought-provoking… politically and socially astute songs… Accompanied by his accomplished fingerpicked guitar”
– RNR Magazine
“a real knack for storytelling… stripped back and raw… speaks straight from the heart”
– Folk & Honey

Mountain Hares
Christopher formed Mountain Hares with his friend Ben Dwyer in 2023. They have co-written a suite of songs and perform across folk clubs nationally.
Mountain Hares tell stories that reconnect us to the earth. They weave original songs inspired by nature and share their rejuvenating take on traditional music. They love to engage audiences by encouraging participation, and leave you feeling that you’ve been part of an intimate and special music experience.
Their immersive performances layer vocal harmonies with a diversity of instruments, including guitar, piano, harmonium, banjo, lapsteel dobro, and Native American flute.

Christopher Crompton & Matt Sayers
Christopher plays occasional special joint shows with his friend and fellow singer-songwriter, Matt Sayers. Their first concert at St Bart’s in Wolverhampton in 2024 was very warmly received and led to several further shows in 2025. More collaborations are in the pipeline for 2026!
Christopher Crompton & Julia Disney
Christopher’s partner, Julia Disney, is an accomplished singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger. As well as contributing vocal and instrumental parts to each others’ studio recordings, the pair began performing together live in 2024. Along with selections from their individual catalogues, Christopher and Julia have curated new material for their collaborative shows, combining the strengths of their songwriting and instrumentalism.
The duo are currently working on a joint album. Watch this space!
